Dear class,
I hope this message finds you well. As you all know, all CUNY classes are currently cancelled. Classes will start up again March 19th, but in online format only. This will be the case for the remainder of our semester together.
I am currently working on figuring out the best way to go about fully online instruction and will provide you with more information about what exactly that will entail in the coming days. This is all rather sudden, and a bit of uncharted territory for me, so please bear with me as we get everything sorted out. In the end, it is perhaps ironically appropriate that our class about technological change would be forced to go entirely virtual…
In any case, the first practical step you can all do yourselves is to get your third reading response in ASAP (it was originally due today, if you’ll recall). Because of the extraordinary number of emails I am getting on my main account, I am setting up an email specifically for our 1012 class. Please send your reading responses to: zlloyd1012@gmail.com. Going forward, this email will serve as our main point of contact for all communication about the class.
The second practical step for you all is to simply continue reading through 1984 so you can be prepared to (eventually) do some writing about the book. Please note that I am also considering how to go about getting your second reading responses back to you now–I may just end up taking pictures of your writing with my comments and send those to you individually.
Okay, I think that’s all for now. I know these are very uncertain and crazy times, so please feel free to reach out to me if you have any concerns. Stay safe!
